Diesel generator water temperature is too low to cause various harm to the unit, mainly including the following aspects:
1. Reduced combustion efficiency: Too low water temperature will cause the temperature in the combustion chamber to fail to meet the design requirements, and the fuel cannot be fully burned, thereby reducing the power output of the engine.
2. Increased mechanical wear: Too low water temperature will cause poor cooling effect of mechanical parts, easily produce thermal stress, cause deformation, fatigue and damage of engine parts, and may even cause coolant to freeze and damage the cooling system.
3. Poor lubrication effect: Too low water temperature will reduce the temperature of the engine oil, make it viscous, and deteriorate its fluidity, resulting in a reduction in the amount of oil pumped by the oil pump, poor lubrication, and increased risk of mechanical failure.
4. Affected starting performance: Too low water temperature will extend the starting time of the unit and increase the starting load.
5. Metal corrosion and component damage: Water vapor after combustion is easy to condense on the cylinder wall, causing metal corrosion; incompletely burned diesel may dilute the engine oil, causing deterioration of lubrication; colloid formed by incomplete fuel combustion may jam the piston ring and valve, reducing the pressure in the cylinder.
Preventive measures for diesel generators:
Maintain proper coolant temperature: When the diesel generator is working normally, the coolant temperature should be between 75 and 90°C, and the maximum should not exceed 95°C. When used in winter, the coolant temperature should be kept at around 80°C.
Check the cooling system regularly: Make sure there is no leakage in the cooling system, the coolant is sufficient, and avoid the coolant temperature being too low or too high.
Reasonable use of preheating device: Use the preheating device before starting in cold seasons to increase the coolant temperature and reduce the difficulty of starting and mechanical wear.
